A remote control vibrator is one that you, or a partner, can control without touching the toy. The remote can be a small handheld controller, your phone running the maker’s app over Bluetooth, or the same app handing control to a partner over the internet. Today most remote-control vibrators use the phone as the remote. Lovense, for example, lists its app-controlled toys as remote control vibrators.

The six picks below come from our Vibe Picks collection. All six can be run from a phone app and handed to a partner, and one, SVAKOM DuoGlow, also offers a physical remote: SVAKOM says its detachable stimulator doubles as a wireless remote. For each, we set out how the maker says it is controlled and what its app can do.

Quick picks

Remote control vs app control vs long-distance control

The three terms overlap, but they describe different set-ups.

Physical remote

A small handheld controller that works with the toy directly, without a phone. You can keep it in your own hand or pass it to a partner beside you. None of these six comes with a separate, dedicated remote. DuoGlow is the physical-remote option here: SVAKOM says its detachable stimulator doubles as a wireless remote.

App control

Your phone becomes the remote. The app connects to the toy by Bluetooth, a short-range connection, so this is for when you and the toy, or you and your partner, are in the same place. You don’t need an internet connection for it.

Long-distance control

The app hands control to a partner over the internet, wherever they are. Both of you need the app and a working connection. All six picks here list it. If control across cities or countries is the main thing you want, our guide to long-distance vibrators compares five more toys chosen specifically for that use.

In short: every app-controlled vibrator is a remote-control vibrator, but not every remote-control vibrator needs an app. This guide focuses on app-controlled options, because they make up most of the products we’ve verified for our catalogue.

What the app lets you do

Touch control

The basic job: intensity and modes on a slider or touch pad instead of small buttons on the toy. For this you don’t need a partner or an internet connection. Your phone talks to the toy directly over Bluetooth.

Patterns you design

Both apps go beyond the built-in modes. Lovense describes creating, sharing and playing your own patterns in Lovense Remote. SVAKOM’s app has a Touch mode where you draw a pattern with your fingertip, and a Custom mode for combining preset modes.

Music and sound

Both apps can make the vibration respond to a song or to sound around you. Lovense describes using “sound, music, motion, or voice” to make the toy respond in real time. SVAKOM lists Music and Sound modes.

Hands-free and wearable use

A wearable stays in place on its own, so the app can run a pattern or follow music while your hands are free. Flexer is the only wearable among these six. Lovense describes it as hands-free and comfortable to wear under clothes. If how a toy is worn matters more to you than what its app can do, see our guide to wearable vibrators.

A partner in the same room

A partner nearby can take over from the app. Lovense lists close-range control for Exomoon and Flexer, and SVAKOM lists short-range control for Emma Neo 2, DuoGlow and Plume. With DuoGlow, a partner can also take the detachable stimulator, which doubles as a wireless remote. Osci 3’s product page lists control from anywhere and a shareable Control Link, but doesn’t name close-range control.

Long-distance, if you want it

All six also list some form of long-distance control. It runs through the app over the internet, and both of you need a working connection. For control from farther away, DuoGlow uses the app like the others.

The picks

Lovense Exomoon: the compact app-controlled pick

Exomoon is a compact bullet vibrator shaped like a lipstick, for external use. It has a control button on the toy, and in the Lovense Remote app Lovense lists close-range control, long-distance control, unlimited vibration patterns, sync to music and sound-activated vibration. No separate remote is included: your phone is the remote. It is rated IPX7, and Lovense lists 2.5 to 3 hours of continuous use.

It may suit you if you want remote control in something small and discreet that travels easily. If you’re new to vibrators, our beginner guide covers the basics. It is a focused, handheld bullet, so it won’t give broad or internal stimulation.

Lovense Flexer: the wearable pick

Flexer is a panty vibrator worn under clothing, with an insertable arm and an external pad. Lovense describes it as hands-free and comfortable to wear, with three motors (clitoral vibration, G-spot vibration and a come-hither movement) that you can run separately or together. It has 7 preset patterns, and Lovense lists unlimited patterns, music sync, sound activation, and close-range and long-distance control in the app. It is rated IPX7, and Lovense lists 65 to 120 minutes of continuous use.

It may suit you if you want a partner to control what you’re wearing, in the same room or from somewhere else, while your hands stay free. It is insertable, and fit with any wearable is personal.

Lovense Osci 3: the rabbit pick

Osci 3 is a rabbit vibrator with an oscillating G-spot arm, a clitoral arm and a heating function. You can run it from buttons on the handle or from the app. Of the six, it lists the widest set of app features on its product page: create, share and play your own patterns, give control through a shareable Control Link, vibrate to music, and adjust to ambient sound, with control by touch, sound or motion. It is rated IPX7, and Lovense lists up to 170 minutes of battery life on a 75-minute charge.

It may suit you if you want internal and external stimulation together and you’re interested in exploring the app. It is a larger, handheld toy.

SVAKOM Emma Neo 2: the wand pick

Emma Neo 2 is a wand vibrator for broad external stimulation, with a head that heats to 38°C and a rabbit-ears attachment. SVAKOM lists bonus preset modes, drawing your own modes, sync to music or sounds, short- and long-range control, and text chat or video calls in the SVAKOM App. It is rated IPX7, with a stated 2-hour battery life on a 3-hour charge.

It may suit you if smaller toys feel too “buzzy” and you prefer deeper, broader vibration. It is the heaviest pick here (365 g), and the charge time is long.

SVAKOM DuoGlow: the physical-remote pick

DuoGlow comes in two parts: a thrusting vibrator with a rotating beaded ring, and a detachable pulsating stimulator. You can use them together or apart. SVAKOM says the stimulator doubles as a wireless remote, putting control in your hands or your partner’s. In the SVAKOM App it lists short- and long-range control, drawing your own modes, sync to music or sounds, and text chat or video calls. It heats to 38°C, is rated IPX7, and SVAKOM lists a battery life of 1 hour on a 2.5-hour charge.

It may suit you if you want something physical to pass back and forth, plus the app for patterns and long-distance play. It is an insertable toy, and the 1-hour stated battery makes it better for shorter sessions.

SVAKOM Plume: the quiet pick

Plume is a slim bullet with a soft, flexible brush tail, used as a bullet, a brush, or both together. SVAKOM lists drawing your own modes, sync to music or sounds, and short- and long-range control in its app. SVAKOM lists Plume’s sound level at under 50 dB. We haven’t measured it ourselves, so treat that as the maker’s figure.

It may suit you if you prefer light, teasing external sensation and want a toy its maker describes as quiet. Its IPX6 rating means it resists strong rinsing but isn’t rated for submersion, and the stated battery life is 1 hour.

How to choose

Start with the toy, not the remote

A remote or an app can change how a vibrator is controlled, but not what kind of stimulation it gives. Pick the shape that matches what already works for you, then compare how each one is controlled.

Physical remote or phone

A physical remote needs no phone, no app and no account, and it’s easy to hand over. A phone app gives you far more: custom patterns, music sync, and control from a distance. If you want both, DuoGlow is the only pick here whose detachable stimulator doubles as a wireless remote alongside the app.

Nearby or far away

If your partner will be in the room, look for close-range or short-range control, or a physical remote. If they’ll be somewhere else, you need long-distance control through the app, and our long-distance guide goes deeper.

Wearable or handheld

Flexer is the only wearable here. A wearable leaves your hands free while the app runs a pattern or a partner takes over. The handheld picks give you more control over placement and pressure.

Battery for remote sessions

Sessions that follow music or a partner’s control can run longer than you expect. Stated battery ranges from 1 hour (DuoGlow, Plume) to 2.5–3 hours (Exomoon). For care and cleaning between sessions, see vibrators and infection risk.

Privacy and accounts by brand

A connected toy creates data an ordinary vibrator doesn’t. A physical remote doesn’t need an account; the apps are where accounts come in, and what each maker documents differs.

For Lovense’s documented security history and how it was resolved, see the privacy section of our long-distance guide. Practical steps: use an email address that isn’t your main one, pick a username that doesn’t identify you, keep the app updated, and only share control with someone you trust. There is more background in our guide to app-controlled vibrators and privacy.

How we chose, and what we can’t tell you

We started from the remote- and app-controlled vibrators in our Vibe Picks collection and picked six that each do a different job: a compact bullet, a wearable, a rabbit, a wand, a thrusting toy whose detachable stimulator doubles as a remote, and a quiet external toy. We left out air-pulse toys, which aren’t vibrators (our clitoral vibrator guide covers them), and the five toys already on our long-distance list, so the two guides don’t repeat each other. We also left out SVAKOM Jordan, which comes with a separate remote, because it’s an anal toy rather than a general-purpose vibrator.

This is a shortlist from two brands, Lovense and SVAKOM, not a survey of every remote-control vibrator on the market. We have not tested these products, so we can’t tell you how strong they feel, how loud they are in practice, how far a remote or Bluetooth connection reaches in your home, or how reliable each app is day to day. Every specification here is the manufacturer’s.

FAQ

What is a remote control vibrator?

Any vibrator you can control without touching the toy: with a handheld remote, with a phone app over Bluetooth, or through an app over the internet. Most current models, including all six here, use a phone app. DuoGlow’s detachable stimulator also doubles as a wireless remote.

Is a remote control vibrator the same as an app-controlled one?

Not always. An app-controlled vibrator uses your phone as the remote, so it counts as a remote-control vibrator. But some remote-control vibrators come with a handheld remote and don’t need a phone at all.

Do remote control vibrators need Wi-Fi?

Not for a physical remote or for same-room app use: the app connects to the toy by Bluetooth. Lovense says most long-distance features need stable Wi-Fi or mobile data, while some basic modes work offline over Bluetooth.

Can I use one without the app?

Yes, with built-in modes. Exomoon has a control button and Osci 3 has buttons on the handle. Lovense lists 7 preset patterns for Flexer, and SVAKOM lists built-in modes for Emma Neo 2, DuoGlow and Plume. DuoGlow can also be controlled with its detachable stimulator, which doubles as a wireless remote. The app is what unlocks custom patterns, music sync and partner control from a distance.

Can my partner control it from the same room?

For most of these picks, yes. Lovense lists close-range control for Exomoon and Flexer, SVAKOM lists short-range control for Emma Neo 2, DuoGlow and Plume, and with DuoGlow a partner can also hold the detachable stimulator as the remote. For control from another city, see our long-distance guide.

Which app is better, Lovense Remote or the SVAKOM App?

We can’t rank them without testing. On paper, SVAKOM documents solo use with no login and a draw-your-own-pattern mode. Lovense documents a broader feature set, including motion control, shareable Control Links and group play.
